This 5-ingredient super green juice is easy to make and a great natural and healthy energy booster. Made with fresh mint, spinach, kiwi, green apple & ginger, it’s a refreshing green juice that’ll energize you on a busy day.
I know that green juices can be intimidating and I’ve learned a lot about what to do and what not to do when juicing fresh produce (if you’re new to juicing, be sure to check out My Top 10 Juicing Tips For Beginners). Finding the right balance between sweet fruits and greens is key if you want a fresh homemade juice that’s both healthy and enjoyable.

This super green juice is the perfect recipe to make when you happen to have a large bag of fresh greens, such as spinach, in the fridge that need to be consumed asap. I usually love to include several different types of green vegetables in my juice recipes (my sweet green salad juice recipe, for instance, includes butter lettuce, romaine lettuce, and cucumber), but I also love the simplicity of just using a huge amount of the same kind of greens and then combining it with fruits and herbs.
For this green juice recipe, I used my favorite juicer, had one serving right away and then stored the rest in a glass bottle in the fridge for later. If you’re ready to make a delicious and healthy green juice, let’s get started (and don’t worry if you don’t have all the same ingredients, you can easily adjust this recipe to your liking!)

- You want to feel energized naturally
- You’re trying to incorporate healthier habits one step at a time
Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
The following is an overview of the ingredients you’ll need to make this recipe, as well as recommended substitutions. For the exact measurements, be sure to refer to the recipe card below.

Green apples add just the right amount of sweetness to this super green juice. I used the Granny Smith variety, but you could also use Jona Gold or any other apples you like. If you want an even greener juice that’s barely sweet at all, I’d suggest increasing the amount of spinach used and replacing the apples with the juice of a lemon.
Did you know? Green apples are usually a little tarter and less sweet than red apples. This is because they contain more malic acid, which may act as a liver and gall bladder cleanser.
Kiwis, just like green apples, also tend to be a little less sweet than their golden counterparts (if you want to try a juice recipe made with golden kiwis, be sure to check out my easy yellow juice recipe, which is one of my favorites and super kid-friendly!) Kiwis are tiny vitamin powerhouses and I love adding them to both juices and smoothies. That said, if you want to keep it simple, you can also use apples as the only fruit in this green juice recipe.

Spinach is one of the most popular greens for a reason. Its protective antioxidant properties represent just a fraction of their health benefits. For this super green juice recipe, you can use either baby spinach or regular spinach as long as it’s fresh and raw. Some great alternatives are kale, celery, and lettuce.
I started adding Fresh Mint Leaves to my cold-press juices a few years ago and absolutely love it (my favorite summer juice is made with watermelon, cucumber, mint, and lime, for example). As with any ingredient, the key is to not overdo it and start with a small amount and then increasing it to taste. If you don’t love mint in general, chances are you won’t love it in a juice either. But if you do, then go for it. You could also use basil, cilantro, or fresh parsley.

I absolutely love adding fresh Ginger Root to my fresh homemade juices (such as my easy 4-ingredient green juice made with pineapple, celery, spinach, and ginger), so I of course had to add it to this super green juice as well. Ginger adds an extra kick both in terms of health benefits and taste, but if you’re not used to it, you might want to start with a very small amount at first. You can always increase it to your liking afterwards. Instead of ginger, you could also use turmeric root.
Recommended Equipment
To make this juice, you’ll need a juicer. If you already have one, great! If, on the other hand, you don’t, then the juicer I personally use, love, and recommend is the Nama J2 Cold-Press Juicer. You can read my in-depth review of this juicer (and get a discount code) here.

If investing in a new juicer is not an option at the moment, then you can blend the ingredients in a blender or food processor and then strain the liquid using a nut milk bag or a cheese cloth.

I also used my 25oz/750mL On-The-Go Glass bottle to store my juice in the fridge. For any additional accessories I recommend, be sure to check out the recipe card below.

How to Make This Recipe (Step by Step)
The following is a step-by-step overview of how to make this recipe. For a recap, be sure to check out the recipe card below.
Step One: prepare your produce

Start by washing your produce and then patting it dry using a kitchen towel. Depending on the type of juicer you’re using, you can either leave your fruits, vegetables, and herbs whole or you’ll need to cut them into smaller pieces. Whether or not your peel your fruits is up to you! Personally, I like to leave apples whole, but I do prefer to peel kiwis (kiwi peel is edible though, so if you’d like, feel free to skip peeling yours!)
Step Two: add the produce to your juicer

If you’re using a juicer like mine (the Nama J2 Cold-Press Juicer), then simply place your produce in your juicer’s hopper. If you’re using a different kind of juicer (one with a small opening, for instance), then you’ll need to first turn your juicer on and then add the smaller produce pieces one by one.

TIP: I like to make sure I add at least some of the heavier fruits (like apples) last to ensure the weigh down lighter ingredients (like herbs or ginger root) so that I get the maximum amount of juice.
Step Three: start juicing!

This next step is the easiest! Simply ensure your juicer’s hopper’s lid is closed, turn on your juice, sit back and watch the juicer do the work for you! As mentioned above, if you’re using a different kind of juicer, you’ll need to add your produce pieces one by one, so it won’t be quite as effortless, but it’ll still be super easy and won’t take long!

Since I used a large amount of spinach in this green juice recipe, I used both my large hopper and large pitcher set. If you love juicing in big batches and/or for a lot of people, then I’d definitely recommend getting these accessories for your J2 juicer. Otherwise, the regular hopper and accessories that come with the juicer are more than sufficient!
Should you strain your juice? I’d say only if you want to! You definitely don’t have to strain your juice and I only occasionally strain mine. I always recommend trying it both ways and then seeing which version you prefer.
Step Four: serve and enjoy!

If you’re planning on drinking your juice right way, then I’d recommend pouring it into a glass jar over ice cubes for the freshest experience. If you’re planning on drinking it later on, you can store it in a glass bottle in the fridge (I used this 25-ounce/750mL glass bottle).

Green Juice – Frequently Asked Questions

Is green juice actually good for you?

Yes! Since green juice includes a high volume of fresh green vegetables, you’ll get more nutrients in a shorter amount of time as you wouldn’t realistically be able to eat the same amount of greens in their whole form as quickly. That said, balance is key and it’s best to combine green juices with a well-planned and balanced diet that also includes plenty of protein and fiber. Also, if you have any health issues or concerns, be sure to check with your doctor before making any drastic changes to your diet.
What is green juice made of?

Green juice is usually made from green vegetables such as kale, spinach, celery, lettuce, cucumber etc, as well as fruits. These fruits can, but don’t have to also be green. Fresh herbs like mint, basil, cilantro, or parsley are also popular green juice ingredients.
What is the healthiest green to juice?

Dark leafy greens are typically considered among the healthiest vegetables. That said, rotating your greens and other juice ingredients is the best way to ensure you consume a variety of nutrients.
What is the 80/20 rule for juicing?

The 80/20 rule for juicing refers to aiming for 80% of your juice ingredients to be vegetables and 20% to be fruits. This allows to reduce blood sugar spikes while still including enough sweetness to make your juices more enjoyable.
What’s the difference between a green juice and a green smoothie?

Green juice (as well as any other juice) is made by extracting the juice from fruits and vegetables while removing the fiber. Green smoothies (as well as any other smoothies), on the other hand, is made by blending fruits, vegetables and/or other ingredients such as plant milk, nut butters, seeds, or protein powder. Green juice is therefore thinner while smoothies are on the thicker side and still contain fiber.
